Newsela is a wonderful current event website that provides students articles on a multitude of subjects. Whats great about Newsela is that each article can be altered to a different Lexile score so that all students can be reading the same article at the level they are currently at. You can connect the site to your Google Classroom and assign quizzes as well as writing prompts.
Tumble Books Library: http://m.queenslibrary.org/test/entertainment/downloads/ebooks (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site.
TumbleBooksLibrary is ideal for ELL students because the read along and storybook stories are read aloud and the words are highlighted sentence by sentence during the read aloud. This allows students to practice their fluency by reading along. In addition, TumblebookLibrary storybooks make the pages of the books come alive by animating the illustrations, adding sounds, and music. This also aids students’ comprehension of the story by providing clues to key vocabulary and phrases thereby making the learning more tangible for ELL students.
